Rashmeet Kaur is an Indian singer-songwriter known for his remakes of popular Punjabi folk songs Bajre Da Sitta, Buhe Bariyan and Ik Meri Aakh Kashni.
Rashmeet Kaur was born on Tuesday 8 March 1994 (Age 27; as of 2021), in Punjab, India. She grew up in Delhi. He loved music since childhood and started singing at the age of five. It was her mother who introduced Rashmeet to the music world by teaching her Gurmat sangeet (religious Sikh songs) and organ lessons. In an interview, she shared childhood memories, saying,
I can’t reach the organ’s pump, but I’m playing it. “
Later, she started her formal musical training at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi. At the same time, she continued to learn Gurmat sangeet from her teacher Jasvinder Kaur. At the age of ten, she was honored to perform in front of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. She has performed at many university festivals and has also won the IIT Delhi Classical Competition.

Rashmeet Kaur was born into a Sikh family in Punjab. Her mother’s name is Tajinder Kaur and her brother’s name is Simran Singh.
She started her musical journey when she appeared as a contestant on the singing reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” (2012). On the show, she was among the top 40 contestants. Later, in the same year, she received the title of Sur Sartaj (2012). In 2013, she was among the top 10 contestants in the Punjabi singing reality series “The Voice of Punjabi Season 4”. Since then, she has performed various stage performances, university live performances, corporate performances, and more. She expressed her voice in numerous commercial songs. In 2015, she became popular by participating in “Asian Singing Superstar”. During the show, she sang the Punjabi folk song “Jugni Ji” which went viral on the internet.
In 2017, she was the backing vocalist for the song “Heer” in the Bollywood film Phillauri. In 2018, she released her first original song “Maati ki Gudiya” with the aim of spreading awareness about child marriage. She gained popularity when she was the winner of Amazon’s “The Remix” (2018) with producer Su Real. The music reality show was judged by famous Indian singers Sunidhi Chauhan, Amit Trivedi and DJ Nucleya. As part of the win, Rashmeet and Su Real took home Rs 5 lakh.
After her big win, she got the chance to work with DJ Nucleya on the songs “Mirza” and “Mahiya” from his 2019 album “Tota Myna”. In November 2020, she released the album “Manjh Muhabbat Teri” which contains six shabad (Sikh hymns). In January 2021, she released her debut, “Musafir,” which features four songs based on the poetry of Sufi superstars Buhler Shah and Shah Hussein. Later, in the same year, she rose to fame with a remake of the popular Punjabi folk song “Bajre Da Sitta” first sung by Surinder Kaur and Prakash Kaur.
In 2021, Rashmeet shot to fame with the song “Nadiyon Paar (Let the music play)” re-written by composer Sachin-Jigar from Shamur’s 2004 party song “Let the music play”.
